Trinity Lutheran Church hosts three concert series:

  • The Main Concert Series, Sundays at 4:00 p.m.,
     
  • The noontime "Bach's Lunch Recitals" at 12:15 p.m. on first Fridays from September or October through June, and
     
  • "The Previews," at 2:00 p.m. on third or fourth Saturdays from September through June (except December). From January through June, the concerts are repeated the next day on Beverly Hills' "Music In The Mansion" recital series in the the historic Beverly Hills Greystone Mansion.

The resident quartet of the graduate program at the Colburn School of Performing Arts, the members of the Calder String Quartet are recent graduates of USC.

12th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORGAN DEDICATION

David Goode
DAVID GOODE organ

David Goode was an Organ Scholar at King's College, Cambridge and Sub-Organist at Christ Church, Oxford and is currently Organist at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. David won the top prizes awarded at the 1997 St. Alban's Interpretation Competition, and the Recital Gold Medal at the 1998 Calgary Competition.

For the past nineteen years, Karla Devine has been Organist and Director of Children's Choirs at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manhattan Beach. She did her graduate work in Basel, Switzerland, and at the University of Minnesota. Karla is the Artistic Director of the Trinity Lutheran Church Concert Series.

MICHAEL BURKHARDT

Dr. Michael Burkhardt is known for his creative hymn improvisations and his work with children. He is in frequent demand as a choral and organ clinician and leader of hymn festivals. Dr. Burkhardt is a graduate of Carthage College and Southern Methodist University. He earned the DMA degree in organ performance at Arizona State University. His organ, choral and handbell compositions are published by MorningStar Music. Michael Burkhardt is currently on the faculty at Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Trinity Lutheran Church has had to cancel its Hymn Festival because Dr. Michael Burkhardt has pneumonia. Thank you for your understanding.

Concord Ensemble

Formed in 1996, the a capella Concord Ensemble performs internationally and was awarded Grand-Prize in the Early Music America/Dorian Records competition.

       Robert Edward Thies    Phoebe Jevtovic Alexander

Internationally acclaimed concert pianist Robert Edward Thies, Gold-Medal winner of the International Prokofiev Competition, and rising star Phoebe Jevtovic Alexander, soprano with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Waverly Consort, Musica Angelica, and La Monica, make their debut as a Lieder duo. Both are graduates of USC.
