WILLIAM D. USHER II organ William Usher is Director of Music and Organist of St. Gregory the Great Church in Whittier, California. Prior to returning to Southern California in 2006, he was Director of Music of Holy Trinity Church, Georgetown, the oldest place of Catholic worship in the District of Columbia. William earned the Master of Music degree in Organ Performance from USC, where he studied with renowned concert organist, Cherry Rhodes. Karla is a soprano with Camerata Singers of Long Beach. She did her graduate work in Basel, Switzerland, and at the University of Minnesota. ALTHEA WAITES piano In an Argentinean-themed evening, acclaimed pianist Althea Waites, graduate of the Yale University School of Music and Professor of Piano at California State University, Long Beach, will perform tangos by Astor Piazzolla and selections by Alberto Ginastera in the intimate music room of Jean Galanos' home on her Bösendorfer grand piano. The evening's reception is being expertly designed by Argentine native Eleanor Allen and professional chef Sara Digre and will include a selection of Argentinean wines, empanadas, and hors d'oeuvres before the concert and coffee & desserts by following. Requested minimum donation -- $50 |
