10. Defeat Measure C                                          Home Page

When originally proposed term limits almost seemed like a good idea. Politicians who remained in office by name recognition and money could be removed and new blood introduced. However, what has really happened is a combination of musical chairs, short term thinking and a lack of senior leadership-consider the California fiscal crisis. Putting this measure on the ballot is an insult to the citizens of RPV. If they want to change the makeup of the council then they should vote in new members such as myself. If they are satisfied with the direction of the city then they should continue to support the incumbents regardless of how many terms they have served. Some should go after 1 term while others might serve 5 or 6 terms.

You the voter should take a close look at whether this is a not so subtle attempt to remove the 2 longer serving council members by focusing on length of service rather than the relative merits of the candidates. Also ask the 3 incumbents who voted to place this measure on the ballot why $4000 of your taxes should be spent on such a dysfunctional idea and only 1 of them signed the "For" statement.

Vote NO on Measure C.
