checkbox  REGISTRATION

A QUALIFIED VOTER MUST BE (ON ELECTION DAY):

  • 18 years old
  • A U.S. Citizen
  • Registered 15 days before an election
  • A resident of the State of California

YOU MUST RE-REGISTER IF YOU:

  • Have moved since you registered
  • Changed your name
  • Wish to change party affiliation

You do not need to re-register if you were registered previously but did not vote in the last election.

HOW TO REGISTER:
Registration forms can easily be obtained locally at city halls, public libraries, post offices and county fire stations, or from the League of Women Voters. The applicant fills out and mails the pre-addressed card. After the County Registrar of Voters receives and processes the information, a voter identification card will be returned confirming that registration has been accomplished.

If necessary, the Registrar will mail the registration form to you. Call the Registrar of Voters headquarters in Norwalk at (562) 466-1310 or 800-481-VOTE.

The application for or renewal of a driver's license also serve as a voter registration form. Registration forms will be offered by agencies serving the disabled and to those applying in person for public assistance.

REGISTER ONLINE:

You can now register online. The online system will allow Californians whose signature is already on file with the state Department of Motor Vehicles to transfer their voter registration form electronically to county elections officals from the Secretary of State's website. Please click HERE for the website.

State of California Voters Hotline:

(800) 345-VOTE
(800) 345-8683

IF YOU HAVE JUST MOVED:
Registration closes 15 days before each election. If you have moved anywhere in the state within 15 days of any election and are validly registered at your previous address, you may vote by returning to your former precinct or by absentee ballot using the previous address.
