Honda Civic Si
The 1999 Civic Coupe is a front-wheel drive, two door, subcompact, five
passenger coupe. The newest addition to Honda's line up of
passenger cars, the Civic Coupe debuted in 1993. For the last two years,
Honda's family of Civic Sedans, Coupes and Hatchbacks have
been the best-selling small cars in America. This year the Civic Coupe
features new front and rear styling that adds an even sportier look.
The Civic Coupe is available in four trims, the DX, HX, EX and the new
sporty Si. Prices start at $12,500 with the main competition
coming from the Saturn 3-Door Coupe, Pontiac Sunfire, Hyundai Tiburon and
Mitsubishi LS Coupe. The standard 1.6-liter, 16-valve,
four-cylinder engine is available in a variety of horsepower ratings depending
on the trim. The Civic HX Coupe with 115-horsepower is
the EPA's mileage leader for coupes with an exceptional fuel economy rating
of 35 city / 43 highway miles per gallon. The new Si provides
160-horsepower -- one of the highest ratings in it's class. Civics are
equipped with a five-speed manual transmission or an optional
four-speed automatic with Honda's Grade Logic, which selects and holds
the appropriate gear when traveling up or down hills. All Civic
Coupes feature adjustable steering, 60/40 fold-down rear seatbacks and
a rear window defroster. The Civic HX Coupe adds power
windows and door locks. The EX further adds air conditioning, cruise control
and a CD player. The sporty Si is extremely well-appointed
inside and out with chrome exhaust tips, four-wheel disc brakes, 15-inch
alloy wheels and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift
knob.
