VVTi enables Lexus engines to be more powerful and more efficient
      than ever before. Engine "breathing" is optimised with VVTi because
      an intelligent computer control system adjusts the timing of the
      intake camshaft to improve throttle response, low-end power and
      emissions. Intelligent computer control allows for continuous
      adjustment of cam timing to suit a wide range of operating
      conditions. In contrast to existing variable valve timing systems, VVTi
      does not simply switch between two compromise settings. Instead it
      adjusts continuously, using a computer controlled piston sliding over
      helical-cut gears to change the relationship between the cam-drive
      pulley and the intake camshaft. This shifting of the piston position
      provides up to 60 degrees of advanced intake cam timing in the
      straight six cylinder engine. VVTi: optimal performance, greater fuel
      efficiency, smooth seamless power delivery and improved exhaust
      emission control.
ABS and Traction Control
      All the proven roadholding advantages of anti-lock brakes (ABS) and
      Traction Control are standard equipment on all three versions of the
      IS200. As any motoring commentator will tell you, ABS systems are
      not all the same, they can very considerably. The full 4-channel,
      4-sensor ABS system on the IS200 is one of the most effective
      available. Working in conjunction with the large disc brakes, it can
      bring the car safely to a halt in an astonishingly short distance, in all

                       manner of road conditions. Pulling away on a
                       slippery surface or accelerating out of a
                       corner, the traction control comes into its
                       own. Using electronic sensors, it keeps the
                       engine power in check to help ensure that
                       you don't exceed the available grip.
