Particulars
There will be two workshops, one introductory and one advanced. They will provide hands-on training on how to set up a Linux-based network for SO/HO environments.  The same principle can be used for large enterprise level networks.  In the SOHO environment, a single Linux machine can be used as a proxy server to connect to INTERNET through dialup connection and provide transparent access to the INTERNET for all the machines in the office network.

The workshops will be conducted by Professor Nazmul Ula. He is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Loyola Marymount University.  He has used the Linux operating system for more than seven years, and has done system administration for a number of UNIX operating systems and NT servers.  Professor Ula has installed Linux-based networks in both SOHO and academic environments.  He is the Technical Advisor for AngelNet Technology Inc, a commercial Linux-based network solution provider.  He conducted eight Linux workshops in 1999 in the USA and abroad.

The Linux Workshops are from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on two Saturdays, June 10th and June 17th, 2000, in a lab setting, with one computer for each attendee.  The workshops will be held in Pereira Hall, Room 32, at Loyola Marymount University.  LMU is on Loyola Boulevard at 80th St. in Westchester.   Lunch is on your own.  A notebook of materials will be provided.  There is free parking.
