SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF SUSAN ANDERSON TO THE RIDGECREST RANCHO RECREATION & PARKS DISTRICT

RECOMMENDATION

Confirm the appointment of Susan Anderson to serve on the Ridgecrest Rancho Recreation & Parks District for a term of office until December 2, 2005. 

The Ridgecrest Rancho Recreation & Parks District (District) is responsible for maintaining the entryway at Crestridge and Crenshaw and the trees in the parkways along Robinview Lane, Meadowdale Lane, Middlecrest Road and Crestridge Road.  The residents of the District are assessed $40.00 annually on their property tax bill to pay for this maintenance. 

This District was formed prior to the City’s incorporation and is governed by an elected five-member board of directors.  One of the members of the board, Gwynn Shaw, has resigned; her term of office was due to expire in December 2005. The City is in receipt of a letter from the Victor Hansen, President of the District, advising us that the Board appointed Susan Anderson to serve out the remainder of Ms. Shaw’s term. As the supervising authority for this District, the City Council should now confirm the appointment of Ms. Anderson to the Board.

Ridgecrest Rancho Recreation & Parks District is responsible for maintaining the landscaping in a certain area of the City.  A five-member board governs the District; recently one of those members resigned and the Board has appointed a resident of the area to fill that vacancy.  Council can now confirm that appointment.
