SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF CHAIR FOR THE OPEN SPACE, PLANNING AND PARK & RECREATION TASK FORCE

RECOMMENDATION

Appoint one of the candidates for chair of the Open Space, Planning and Park & Recreation Task Force.

BACKGROUND

Appointment of a chair to this task force will complete the recruitment and interview process that started in January of this year. Since that time, all of the following advisory boards and tasks forces have been appointed: Planning Commission, Emergency Preparedness Task Force, Finance Advisory Committee, Equestrian Committee, Traffic Committee, View Restoration Mediators, and the Open Space, Planning and Park & Recreation Task Force which was appointed on May 21^st. At that time, the Council appointed Ms. Carol Hildreth as the interim chair until after the July 4^th Country Fair celebration.

Task force members were advised that they could interview for the position of chair, and as of this writing three members (Carol Hildreth, Jim Knight and Juan Torres) have indicated their willingness to seek this position. Those candidates will be interviewed at the adjourned meeting which precedes the regular City Council meeting on August 6^th.

Staff has prepared a ballot listing the candidates for this position.

CONCLUSION

Appointment of the chair to this task force will complete a process that started in January of this year and will allow this task force to meet and commence their business.
