SUBJECT: PENINSULA HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK ADVERTISEMENT

RECOMMENDATION

Authorize staff to place a full-page color advertisement in the 2003 Palos Verdes Peninsula High School Yearbook for a cost of $400.

DISCUSSION

In order to help fund the publication of "La Pantera", the Palos Verdes Peninsula High School Yearbook, local businesses and other organizations are invited to publish advertisements in the Yearbook. The City has been approached for the second year in a row about placing an advertisement in the 2003 edition of the PVPHS Yearbook. A copy of the full-page color ad that was placed in the 2002 Yearbook is attached for reference. The cost of the various advertisement options, which have not changed from last year, are listed below:

The signed contract must be submitted by October 18, 2001. The advertisement itself would be due later, depending on the type of format selected. Color advertisements are due on November 8^th and black and white ads would be due on December 6^th.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is $1,350 remaining in unencumbered funds in the FY 02-03 City Grant program. If the Council were in favor of placing the advertisement, staff would recommend using this funding source, which comes from the Community Outreach program in the City Budget. A full-page color advertisement ($400) would reduce the remaining balance in this fund to $950.
