SUBJECT:NOTICE OF COMPLETION – PVIC STORM DRAIN PROJECT

RECOMMENDATIONS:

1. Accept the work as complete.
2. Authorize the City Clerk to file the notice of completion with the County Recorders Office; and if no claims are filed 35 days after recordation notify the surety company to exonerate the Payment and Performance Bond with SRD Engineering, Inc..
3. Authorize the Director of Public Works to release 10% retention payment to SRD Engineering, Inc. 35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion contingent upon no claims being filed against the contractor.

BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS

On October 15, 2002, City Council awarded a contract to SRD Engineering, Inc. for the construction of the Point Vicente Interpretive Center Storm Drain Project.

Pursuant to the approved contract, the work has been satisfactorily completed at the following cost:

Authorized Contract Amount	$277,000.00
Authorized Contingency Budget	$27,000.00
Total Construction Budget	$306,132.00
Change Orders	$21,055.76
Total Construction Cost	$298,055.76

After the Army Corps of Engineers completed the remediation process, the final topography of the site created a need for an additional storm drain inlet to prevent runoff waters flowing over the bluff. To accommodate this change, a change order was issued as a line item adjustment for additional 24" reinforced concrete pipe to collect storm water runoff near the bluff-side of the project area.

FISCAL IMPACT

The recommended action will have no fiscal impact.

CONCLUSION

SRD Engineering, Inc. has successfully completed all work in accordance with the plans and specifications. Therefore, the work should be accepted as complete and a Notice of Completion filed.
