SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF GENERAL SERVICES AGREEMENT

COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the General Services Agreement (GSA) between the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and the County of Los Angeles and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the Agreement.

BACKGROUND:

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes, as well as most cities in Los Angeles County, has a General Services Agreement (GSA) with the County of Los Angeles to allow the County to perform "as requested" services not covered by other agreements. The current General Services Agreement between the City and the County will expire on June 30, 2003.

DISCUSSION:

The GSA is general in nature and provides authority for the County to provide miscellaneous services requested by the City on an "as needed" basis. The Agreement specifies the method for requesting services and paying for them. Services may include predatory animal control, prosecution of City ordinances, direct assessment collection and a variety of public works activities. Ongoing and specific services, such as Sheriff, health code enforcement and animal control are handled separately under Specific Service Agreements.
