SUBJECT: CLAIM AGAINST THE CITY BY CHARLES LAMONT

RECOMMENDATION

Reject the claim and direct staff to notify the claimant.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On April 23, 2003, the claimant’s vehicle sustained damage allegedly due to driving over a manhole cover that was protruding above street level on Palos Verdes Drive South. The City’s contractor Colich and Sons had performed work on Palos Verdes Drive South for the 25th Street Rehabilitation Project on that particular day. The claim amount is $1,012.47 for muffler and transmission repairs. A copy of the claim is attached.

The City’s Claims Administrator, Carl Warren & Company has advised the City to reject the claim.
