SUBJECT: CLAIM AGAINST THE CITY BY CHARLES LAMONT

RECOMMENDATION

Reject the claim and direct staff to notify the claimant.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On April 23, 2003, the claimant’s vehicle sustained damage allegedly due to driving over a manhole cover that was protruding above street level on Palos Verdes Drive South. The City’s contractor Colich and Sons had performed work on Palos Verdes Drive South for the 25^th Street Rehabilitation Project on that particular day. The claim amount is $1,012.47 for muffler and transmission repairs. A copy of the claim is attached.

The City’s Claims Administrator, Carl Warren & Company has advised the City to reject the claim.
