FROM: ADMIN. SERVICES DIRECTOR/CITY CLERK
DATE: NOVEMBER 5, 2003
SUBJECT: ABALONE COVE LANDSLIDE ABATEMENT DISTRICT AND RIDGECREST RECREATION & PARK DISTRICT: APPOINTMENT OF BOARD MEMBERS
Make the following appointments to two of the City’s special districts: (1) Abalone Cove Landslide Abatement District: Sharon Nolan, Neil Siegel and Emily Vaughan each for a four year term of office until September 2007; and (2) Ridgecrest Recreation and Park District: Appoint Endsley Collett and Julie Sulman to a full four year term until December 2007; and, appoint Susan Anderson to serve out the unexpired term that she was appointed to last year. Said term of office will be until December 2005.
Making these appointments will give both of these boards a full complement of five members and they will be able to conduct the business of the respective districts.
Abalone Cove Landslide Abatement District (ACLAD): A five-member board of directors governs this district and the terms of three members will be expiring this month. The City has been notified by ACLAD that the three incumbent members, Sharon Nolan, Neil Siegel and Emily Vaughn have submitted nomination papers and wish to serve on the board for another four-year term until 2007. The other two members on the board are Robert Douglas and Mary Sheridan. Their terms of office expire in 2005.
Ridgecrest Recreation and Park District (Ridgecrest): A five-member board of directors also governs this district and the terms of two members will expire this month. The president of the District, Victor Hansen, has notified the City that long time Board Member Wayne Fager has resigned and that his seat will now be filled by Julie Sulman; Board Member Endsley Collett has been reappointed to serve another four year term, and Susan Anderson, who was appointed in August 2002 to serve out an unexpired term, has been appointed to serve until December 2005. The other two members on the board are Victor Hansen, and Dolores Pittlekow and their terms expire in 2005.
Two of the City’s special districts, ACLAD and Ridgecrest, have submitted the names of those individuals who wish to serve on their respective boards for the next four years. Council should make these appointments this date to keep the continuity of these boards.
