TO:
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY
COUNCILMEMBERS
FROM: ADMIN. SERVICES DIRECTOR/CITY
CLERK
DATE: APRIL 6, 2004
SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF CHAIR TO THE
EQUESTRIAN COMMITTEE
RECOMMENDATION
Appoint a chair for the Equestrian Committee, said term
will be for a period of one year.
INTRODUCTION
With the completion of interviews of appointees interested
in serving as chair of the Equestrian Committee, the City Council can now
make an appointment.
BACKGROUND
This matter was before the City Council on the March 16
meeting agenda; Mayor Gardiner was absent from that meeting. Two rounds of
voting were conducted to fill the position of Chair of the Equestrian Committee
and both rounds tied in a 2-2-1 vote for applicants Richard Bara and Gordon
Leon. Council then directed staff to place this matter on the April 6th agenda
when there would be a full Council present.
CONCLUSION
The interview process for chair of the Equestrian Committee
has been completed, however, Council was unable to achieve a majority vote
at their March 16th to chose a Chair of the Committee. With a
full complement of Council members present, Council should now be able to
make a choice between the two candidates for the position.
Respectfully submitted,
Jo Purcell
