SUBJECT: RIDGECREST RANCHO RECREATION & PARKS DISTRICT: APPOINTMENT OF JOYCE HUPPERT

RECOMMENDATION

Acknowledge the appointment of Joyce Huppert to serve on the Ridgecrest Rancho Recreation & Parks District for a term of office until December 2, 2005.

BACKGROUND

The Ridgecrest Rancho Recreation & Parks District (District) is responsible for maintaining the entryway at Crestridge and Crenshaw and the trees in the parkways along Robinview Lane, Meadowdale Lane, Middlecrest Road and Crestridge Road. The residents of the District have an annual assessment on their property tax bill to pay for this maintenance.

This District was formed prior to the City’s incorporation and is governed by an elected five-member board of directors. One of the members of the board, Susan Anderson, has resigned; her term of office was due to expire in December 2005. The City is in receipt of a letter from the Victor Hansen, President of the District, advising us that the Board appointed Ms. Huppert to serve out the remainder of Anderson’s term.

CONCLUSION

Ridgecrest Rancho Recreation & Parks District is responsible for maintaining the landscaping in a certain area of the City. A five-member board governs the District; recently one of those members resigned and the Board has appointed a resident of the area to fill that vacancy. Council can now acknowledge that appointment.
