SUBJECT: TRAFFIC COMMITTEE APPOINTMENT
RECOMMENDATION
(1) Appoint a candidate to serve on the Traffic Committee with a term of office until January 2008; or, (2) Delay the appointment until staff presents a revised Traffic Committee charter to the City Council.
BACKGROUND
With the completion of the interviews at the 6:30 P.M. Adjourned Meeting on this date, the City Council will have conducted two interview sessions of residents interested in being appointed to the Traffic Committee.
At the October 19th City Council meeting, in addition to continuing the interviews to this date, the Council also directed staff to prepare alternatives to the present charter of the Traffic Committee (see attached Resol. No. 95-17). That revised charter is expected to be presented to Council before the end of the year. In the event that the City Council decides to make an appointment on this date, staff has prepared a ballot for that purpose.
