SUBJECT: SLURRY SEAL OF PALOS VERDES DRIVE EAST, INSPECTION SERVICES

The Plans and Specifications were approved and a construction contract awarded to Roy Allen Slurry Seal, Inc. at the October 19, 2004 City Council meeting. The City Council also authorized a contract for inspection services to Harris and Associates. Following authorization of inspection services for Harris and Associates, staff determined that Harris and associates does not currently have the appropriate staff to provide this needed service. HY-Com and Associates does have available the appropriate staff to provide the needed inspection services.
The following table summarizes the estimated costs to provide inspection services as of November 8, 2004:
The City has recently used HY-Com and Associates to provide inspection services for this years Residential Overlay and Slurry project. Staff is satisfied with the work performed by HY-Com and Associates, Inc. It is hereby recommended that Council authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a contract with HY-Com and Associates, Inc. for the Slurry Seal of Palos Verdes Drive East Via Del Plaza to Palos Verdes Drive East (25th Street).
Adopting staff’s recommendation will allow the Mayor and City Clerk to award a contract to HY-Com and Associates, Inc., for the Slurry Seal of Palos Verdes Drive East.
Funding is available in the adopted budget for the recommended action.
