SUBJECT: NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE CREST ROAD REHABILITATION FEDERAL PROJECT NO. STPL-5413 (006)

Project Manager: Bindu Vaish

RECOMMENDATION:

1. Accept construction as complete; and

2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder; and if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notice the surety company to exonerate the Payment and Performance bonds; and

3. Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the 10% retention payment, to Hardy and Harper Inc., 35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion by the County Recorder contingent upon no claims being filed on the project, and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond.

BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS

The project consisted of resurfacing Crest Road from Hawthorne Blvd. to East of City Limits. The contract for the project was awarded to Hardy & Harper, Inc. on May 4, 2004. Since that time, all work has been satisfactorily completed within budget and on schedule.

The final project costs are as follows:

Authorized Contract Amount	$561,008.02
Authorized Contingency Budget	$56,100.80
Total Construction Budget	$617,108.82
Total Construction Cost	$599,115.67

CONCLUSION

Hardy & Harper, Inc. has successfully completed all work in accordance with the plans and specifications. Therefore, the work should be accepted as complete and a Notice of Completion filed.

FISCAL IMPACT

The recommended action will have no fiscal impact.
