BACKGROUND Two of the five Council members have indicated that they will not be able to attend the January 18, 2005 City Council meeting as they will be in Washington D.C. Mayor Clark would like to schedule a workshop with staff to discuss goals for the coming year. DISCUSSION The City Council’s schedule of meetings and events for January, 2005 is extensive. The dates already tentatively reserved are as follows: Tuesday, January 4 City Council meeting Monday/Tuesday January 10-11 Contract Cities Conference Tuesday January 18 City Council Meeting Wednesday January 19 Supreme Court Hearing Tuesday February 1 City Council meeting The Council may wish to consider rescheduling the January 18, 2005 meeting to Thursday, January 13th or Monday, January 24th. The Council may also wish to consider not rescheduling the meeting, but simply limiting the agenda to more routine items. Mayor Clark would like to schedule a Saturday Tactical Planning meeting similar to the meeting of January 10, 2004. The meeting would include Councilmembers and senior staff and would re-visit the goals set nearly a year ago as well as discuss new initiatives the Council may wish to add. Mayor Clark has suggested January 29th for this workshop. Respectfully submitted, Les Evans City Manager |
