SUBJECT: LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE REGIONAL ALLIANCE
RECOMMENDATION:
Consider a financial contribution to the Los Angeles Air Force Base Regional Alliance.
BACKGROUND:
At their meeting of February 3, 2004 the City Council took a position of opposition to closure or relocation of the Los Angeles Air Force Base and authorized the Mayor to send a letter in opposition to the closure. At their meeting of March 16, 2004 the City Council approved a financial contribution to the Regional Alliance of $5,000.
DISCUSSION:
Mayor Pro Tem Wolowicz has asked that the City Council consider a second contribution to the LAAFB Regional Alliance of $5,000 during the current fiscal year. The previous contribution was made in the FY 2003-04 fiscal year. Attached is a letter of request from the Alliance as well as a summary of their goals and strategies and a list of their accomplishments. If the contribution is approved staff will bring back a budget adjustment at the next regular City Council meeting.
