SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF ADVISORY BOARD CHAIRS

RECOMMENDATION

Appoint a chair for the Planning Commission, Finance Advisory Committee and Emergency Preparedness Committee.

DISCUSSION

On December 21, 2004, the City Council decided to interview candidates for committee/commission chairs on February 1, 2005. The following appointees have applied for the position of chair for their respective boards:

Planning Commission: William Gerstner, Jack Karp, Jim Knight, Paul Tetreault

Finance Advisory Committee: Gina McLeod

Emergency Preparedness Committee: Mel Hughes, Richard Kimball Smith

The City did not receive any applications from the members of the Equestrian Committee. However, because the Council is scheduled to conduct a one-year review of the Equestrian Committee’s activities on March 1^st, staff recommends that the matter be deferred until after that date.

CONCLUSION

With the completion of interviews of appointees interested in serving as chair of their respective board, the City Council can now make those appointments.
