1) Make an appointment to the Traffic Safety Commission to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Ken Giles; said term of office until February 2007; and 2) Appoint a chair for the Traffic Safety Commission; and, 3) Appoint City representatives to the Western Avenue Task Force.
1. Appointment to Fill a Vacancy
On March 15 and 29, 2005, the Council appointed seven members to the new Traffic Safety Commission. Unfortunately, on March 31st, the City received notification from one of the newly appointed members, Ken Giles, indicating that he had recently decided to move out of the area and was consequently resigning from the Commission (see attached). The remaining applicants are:
Council may select from this list of applicant or direct the City Clerk’s Office to initiate a new recruitment.
2. Selection of a Chair
On March 15, 2005, the City Council decided to interview candidates for chair of the Traffic Safety Commission on April 19, 2005. The following appointee applied for the position:
3. Western Avenue Task Force
On March 15, 2005, the City Council decided to interview candidates for the Western Avenue Task Force on April 19, 2005. The following candidates have applied for the Task Force:
The Council conducted interviews for chair of the Traffic Safety Commission and applicants for the Western Avenue Task Force earlier this evening. There are also three remaining applicants for the Traffic Safety Commission for the Council’s consideration. The Council can now make the appointments and, if desired, provide staff with further direction regarding filling the vacancy on the Traffic Safety Commission.
