SUBJECT: CHANNEL 33 CABLE TV BUILDING
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Adopt Resolution 2005 - , a resolution of the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, amending Resolution 2005-53, the budget appropriation for fiscal year 2005-06, for a budget adjustment to the City’s Building Replacement fund.
- Authorize the City Manager to execute a purchase order in an amount up to $24,000.00 for the needed services and equipment.
BACKGROUND
The heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for the Channel 33 cable building at City Hall is unreliable and subject to breakdown. When breakdowns occur immediate attention is required because the building houses costly equipment that may malfunction and/or breakdown if room temperature exceeds approximately 70’F. When the system was most recently repaired the service company advised us that the system needs replacement.
DISCUSSION
Replacement of the HVAC system for the Cable 33 building was not contemplated in the adopted FY 05 – 06 budget. Staff believes it would be prudent to plan for system replacement at this time so that if the system does fail staff can act immediately on its replacement.
FISCAL IMPACT
Staff estimates that the cost of system replacement is $24,000. The adopted budget does not include funding for system replacement and therefore a budget adjustment is required.
The proposed funding source for this action is the Building Replacement Fund. Adequate funding is available in that account.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS
VERDES, AMENDING RESOLUTION 2005-53, THE BUDGET APPROPRIATION
FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005-06, FOR A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT TO THE CITY’S
BUILDING REPLACEMENT/IMPROVEMENTS FUND
WHEREAS, Section 3.32 of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code provides that all expenditures in excess of budgeted allocations must be by supplemental appropriation of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, on May 31, 2005, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes adopted Resolution 2005-53, approving a spending plan and authorizing a budget appropriation for the 2005-06 fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to allocate additional funds to purchase a new HVAC system for the Channel 33 cable building at City Hall; and
WHEREAS, a budget increase in the Building Replacement/Improvements Program is necessary to authorize the expenditure of additional funds for the new HVAC system;
BE IT, THEREFORE, RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES:
The following adjustment be made to the Building Replacement/Improvements Fund:
