SUBJECT: NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR PALOS VERDES DRIVE EAST (Via Del Plaza to 25th Street) SLURRY SEAL PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Accept the work as complete; and
2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder; and if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notice the surety company to exonerate the Payment and Performance bonds; and
3. Authorize the Director of Public works to release the 10% retention payment, to Roy Allan Slurry Seal Inc., 35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion by the County Recorder contingent upon no claims being filed on the project, and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS
The project consisted of repairing damaged portions of the roadways, slurry sealing, and re-striping of Palos Verdes Drive East from (Via Del Plaza to 25th Street). The contract for the project was awarded to Roy Allan Slurry Seal Inc., on October 19, 2004, and construction was started on July 5, 2005. Since that time, all work has been satisfactorily completed within budget and on time.
FISCAL IMPACT
The recommended action will have no fiscal impact. This project was budgeted in the Street Maintenance fund.
CONCLUSION
Roy Allan Slurry Seal Inc. has successfully completed all work in accordance with the plans and specifications. Therefore, the work should be accepted as complete and a Notice of Completion filed.
