SUBJECT: NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE MIRA VISTA SPEED HUMP PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION
- Accept the work as complete; and
- Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder; and if no claims are filed within 35 days after recordation, and upon the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond, notice the surety company to exonerate the payment and Performance bonds; and
- Authorize the Director of Public Works to release the 10% retention payment, to Sully-Miller Construction Company 35 days after recordation of the Notice of Completion by the County Recorder contingent upon no claims being filed on the project, and the contractor posting an acceptable warranty bond.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS
The project consisted of the installation of twelve, three inch tall, 12 feet wide speed humps spanning the traveled way from gutter to gutter, painting chevron striping on the humps and the installation of signage in the project area. The contract for the project was awarded to Sully-Miller Construction Company on June 21, 2005. Since that time all work has been satisfactorily completed.
The final project costs are as follows:

The total construction cost is greater than the award amount but less than the total authorized budget. One change was made to the contract which changed the number of signs installed and modified the locations they were to be installed.
FISCAL IMPACT
The recommended action will have no fiscal impact. This project was budgeted in the Traffic Management Program fund.
CONCLUSION
Sully-Miller Construction Company has successfully completed all work in accordance with the plans and specifications. Therefore, the work should be accepted as complete and a Notice of Completion filed.
