TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
DATE: NOVEMBER 1, 2005
SUBJECT: NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTIFICATION GRANT AWARD (CYCLE 16)
Staff Coordinator: Pam Mitchell, Administrative Staff Assistant
RECOMMENDATION
Approve one additional grant application for the Monaco HOA Neighborhood Beautification Program totaling $4,500.
BACKGROUND
The Monaco HOA yearly applies for the Beautification Grant Program. Unfortunately this year they did not receive the application that was sent to them and due to no fault of their own this caused them to miss the August 1, 2005 deadline for return of applications. By approving this grant it will allow the Monaco HOA to plant hedges along the east side of Hawthorne Boulevard against the existing chain link fence thereby improving the look of the neighborhood.
Grant recipients may request up to 2/3 of the grant amount upon award. This enables grantees to purchase supplies and materials.
DISCUSSION
Upon review of the Monaco HOA application staff recommends that this application be approved.
CONCLUSION
Adopting the staff recommendation will award this Beautification grant. An award letter will be sent to the applicant, and upon request up to 2/3 of the requested funding will be forwarded. Upon receipt of a final invoice for the work a check remitting the balance will be issued.
FISCAL IMPACT
The adopted FY 06-07 budget includes adequate funding for the recommended action awards grant totaling $4,500.
Respectfully Submitted,
