SUBJECT: CLAIM AGAINST THE CITY BY MERCURY CASUALTY COMPANY (GRANT AHEARN)
RECOMMENDATION
Reject the claim and direct staff to notify the claimant.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Mercury Casualty Insurance Company filed a claim on behalf of its insured for vehicular damage allegedly sustained when the insured driver’s vehicle struck a wall after swerving to avoid a peacock in the middle of the street (Via Campesina in the City of Palos Verdes Estates) on April 21, 2005. The claim amount is for $22,380.39. A copy of the claim is attached.
The City’s Claims Administrator, Carl Warren and Company, has advised the City to reject the claim.
