SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF BOARD MEMBERS TO THE RIDGECREST RANCHOS RECREATION AND PARKS DISTRICT
RECOMMENDATION
Appoint Tom Carter, Victor Hansen and Joyce Huppert to full four-year terms of office on the Ridgecrest Recreation and Parks District board until December 2009.
DISCUSSION
The Ridgecrest Ranchos Recreation and Parks District was scheduled to conduct an election on November 8, 2005 to fill three expiring seats on the board. As of the close of the nomination period, no candidates filed for the three offices of Director for the Ridgecrest Ranchos Recreation and Parks District. Pursuant to Section 10515 of the Elections Code and Section 5780.1 of the Public Resources Code, the City Council shall appoint any qualified person to fill the vacancies. Staff has contacted the current board members with expiring terms: Tom Carter, Victor Hansen and Joyce Huppert, and each has indicated that they would be willing to serve another term on the District Board.
