SUBJECT: UCTV ANTENNA PROGRAM APPLICATION
RECOMMENDATION
Consider a recommendation from Councilman Gardiner and Cable TV Manager Holt to submit an application for a UCTV satellite dish for Channel 33 "and see what happens."
BACKGROUND
Cable TV Manager Gabriella Holt received a call from Allison Gang, the Manager of UCTV, who is interested in broadcasting UCTV programs on Channel 33. The University of California has a program through which the UCTV satellite provider will donate a satellite dish to the cable provider for installation, if cable subscribers in the broadcast area are greater than 5000, and if the cable provider accepts the donation and installs the satellite. The City can broadcast any of the UCTV programs it chooses, as the satellite can be "linked" directly to Channel 33. There are a few "catches."
DISCUSSION
Cable TV Manager Holt will give an oral presentation on the details of the opportunity.
