SUBJECT: MEMBERSHIP ON THE FINANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND PLANNING COMMISSION

RECOMMENDATION

1) Direct staff to conduct a recruitment for the Finance Advisory Committee and the Planning Commission in January 2006; and 2) Consider conducting interviews during the 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. timeframe before the February 7, 21 and March 7, 2006 City Council meetings.

DISCUSSION

Recruitment to Fill Expiring Terms and a Vacancy

In early 2006, the following Committee and Commission members’ terms of office are due to expire:

In addition, Jay Golida resigned from the Planning Commission on December 5, 2006; however, his term would have expired on March 7, 2006. Therefore, Staff is seeking authorization from Council to conduct a recruitment in January 2006 to fill four seats on the Finance Advisory Committee and four seats on the Planning Commission and to schedule interviews of the candidates in February and March 2006.

Selection of Committee and Commission Chairs

Upon completion of the recruitment and selection process for the Finance Advisory Committee and Planning Commission, Council will need to schedule interviews for the new chairs of each advisory board. The appointment of the current chairs - Finance Advisory Committee – Gina McLeod and Planning Commission - Paul Tetreault occurred on February 1, 2005.
