TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Accept the work as complete. BACKGROUND On November 15, 2005, the City Council found that an emergency existed concerning the repair of four Storm Drains within the City. This emergency situation would not permit the delay that would result from the competitive solicitation for bids to line the existing pipes. Accordingly, the City Council approved Contract Change Order Number Two, to the existing storm drain lining contract with SANCON Technologies, Inc., to accomplish this work. DISCUSSION Updates have been provided at each City Council meeting since approval of the emergency repairs in accordance with Public Contract Code Section 22050(a)(1) and 22050 (c)(1). Approval of the Storm Drain Lining Project and the associated Notice of Completion that is filed with the County Recorder will be presented for City Council consideration at a future meeting, following completion of all aspects of that project. However, repairs have been completed specific to Contract Change Order Number Two, therefore staff has placed this item on tonight’s agenda. CURRENT STATUS The Contractor has completed cleaning, video taping and installing liners on all of the following storm drain lines: Palos Verdes Drive South and Seacove Drive, Pontevedra, Silver Arrow and Crest Road. In addition to installing the liners, point repairs and the installation of manholes have been completed and any required insertion pits backfilled. The final project costs are as follows: Total Amount Approved: $459,700.00 Palos Verdes Drive South/Seacove Drive $174,333.50 SANCON Technologies, Inc. has successfully completed all required work associated with Contract Change Order Number Two; therefore, staff recommends that this work be accepted as complete.
