![]() TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER/CITY CLERK DATE: FEBRUARY 21, 2006 SUBJECT: CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE PRODUCTIONS – 2006 RECOMMENDATION DISCUSSION Under the 2000 Cable Television Franchise Agreement, the City can request Cox Communications to produce up to six (6) special event shoots and eight (8) Public Service Announcements (PSAs) per calendar year. On April 19, 2005, City Council adopted Policy No. 40, Programming on Cable Television Government Access Channel 3 (now 35), which stipulates in part that Council will annually approve the topics for all City-sponsored Special Event Shoots and Public Service Announcements provided under the 2000 Cable Television Franchise Agreement. To that end, the Manager of RPV Cable Television, Gabriella Holt, has prepared the list below of proposed topics for 2006 for Council review and approval. Staff is also seeking Council approval for the Manager of RPV Cable Television to select the topics, subject to approval by the City Manager or his designee, for the one special event shoot and one PSA that are currently undesignated. Special Event Shoots 1. Whale of a Day (March 2006) Public Service Announcements Emergency Preparedness Series 3 FISCAL IMPACT There is no cost to the City if the designated Cable Franchise Productions are produced by Cox Communications pursuant to the City’s 2000 Cable Television Franchise Agreement.
