SUBJECT: CITY MAINTENANCE CONTRACT EXTENSIONS

RECOMMENDATION

Approve a one-year extension for FY 2006-2007 to Nationwide Environmental Services, Inc. for street sweeping services; TruGreen Landcare for Park and Trail maintenance; TruGreen Landcare for Roadside maintenance; Republic Electric for Traffic Signal maintenance; and Hardy and Harper for Roadway maintenance.

DISCUSSION

The City has entered into approximately 15 contracts for various maintenance services. In general these contracts have a term of three-years with the possibility of three one-year extensions by mutual agreement. At this time five contracts are subject to possible extension.

Based upon company performance staff recommends that each of the five contracts be extended for an additional year. This is the second one-year extension to the TruGreen Landcare contracts, for all other contracts cited in this report this will be the first extension.

FISCAL IMPACT

In accordance with the contracts there will be a price increase in the amount of 4.0%, this equals the Producer Price Index for Los Angeles/Long Beach. The historical breakdown of these increases is provided in Attachment A. The budget information is provided in Attachment B. There are adequate funds identified in the proposed FY 2006-2007 Budget for these services.
