PROGRAM STATEMENT AND DESCRIPTION
REACH, a program administered by the City of Rancho Palos Verdes' Recreation and Parks Department, is designed to serve the social and recreational needs of youth and young adults with developmental disabilities in Palos Verdes and throughout the South Bay. Originally an after-school program, REACH has expanded its range of offerings significantly since its inception.
REACH offers over 120 challenging and diverse programs each year, designed to promote social interactivity, physical fitness, independent living, job skills, and community access and assimilation.
REACH activities are generally held on Monday and Wednesday evenings and weekends to accommodate participant’s school and work schedules. REACH also offers camps, dances, weekend trips, special events, and art/music/drama therapy.
REACH staff is motivated, creative, and friendly. The participant to staff ratio is 6:1. REACH members must be non-violent, ambulatory, and have sufficient hygiene skills. Interested members must complete a medical information/consent form and provide proof of eligibility. Proof of eligibility is required.
REACH has no monthly or annual fees. Participants sign up for events that fit into their schedules. Cost for most activities is between $5 and $10. Additional funds are often needed to pay for meals and admissions.
Prospective clients are encouraged to contact REACH Coordinator Mona Dill at 310-544-5260 or 310-541-7073. In addition to providing all required paperwork, new clients must meet with Mona Dill prior to joining the program. Please call if you, or someone you know, might benefit from REACH.
