FROM: DIRECTOR OF PLANNING, BUILDING AND CODE ENFORCEMENT DATE: DECEMBER 5, 2006 SUBJECT: CODE AMENDMENT (CASE NO. ZON2004-00265): AMENDMENT TO VARIOUS SECTIONS OF TITLE 17 (ZONING) TO REGULATE THE USE OF CARGO CONTAINERS ON PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY Staff Coordinator: Kit Fox, AICP, Associate Planner RECOMMENDATION Continue the public hearing to January 16, 2007. DISCUSSION In response to City Council direction at the November 7, 2006, meeting, Staff and the City Attorney are still fine-tuning the definition of cargo containers to avoid conflicts with the Building Code regarding the requirement for foundations for cargo containers’ long-term use and placement (i.e., more than one (1) year). Staff will bring back revised language to address this issue at a future meeting. In addition, Staff will seek further City Council input regarding potential conflicts between the Cargo Container Code Amendment and the landslide moratorium regulations and Open Space-Hazard (OH) zoning district standards.
