SUBJECT: JOINT HOST FOR CALIFORNIA CONTRACT CITIES ASSOCIATION GENERAL MEETING
1. Approve hosting the February 2007 California Contract Cities Association general dinner meeting with the Cities of Lomita and Rolling Hills Estates.
2. Adopt Resolution No. 2006-XX, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES, AMENDING RESOLUTION 2006-41, THE BUDGET APPROPRIATION FOR FY 06-07, TO INCREASE THE COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500.
The City is a member of the California Contract Cities Association, which has the practice of rotating the responsibility for hosting the general quarterly meetings among the member cities. The City along with the cities of Lomita and Rolling Hills Estates had planned to joint-host the June 2006 meeting and Council had approved funds for that purpose during FY05-06. However, plans changed and the cities have been asked to sponsor the February 2007 general meeting.
The host cities would be responsible for organizing the dinner meeting arrangements and subsidizing a portion of the expenses. Should the City Council agree to joint host the meeting, the City will front a third of the total dinner meeting expense, which may be up to $2,500. After the meeting, staff estimates the City will be reimbursed for approximately 75% of its share. Therefore the estimated net cost is approximately $625.
Staff is requesting a budget adjustment of $2,500 to cover the expenses for this unbudgeted item.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES, AMENDING RESOLUTION 2006-41, THE BUDGET APPROPRIATION FOR FY06-07, TO INCREASE THE COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500.
WHEREAS, Section 3.32 of the Rancho Palos Verdes Municipal Code provides that all expenditures in excess of budgeted allocations must be by supplemental appropriation of the City Council;
WHEREAS, on June 6, 2006, the City Council of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes adopted Resolution 2006-41, approving a spending plan and authorizing a budget appropriation for FY06-07;
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to share the responsibilities and expenses of hosting the February 2007 Southern California Contract Cities Association general dinner meeting with the Cities of Rolling Hills Estates and Lomita; and
WHEREAS, a budget increase of $2,500 in the General Fund is necessary to authorize expenditures for the aforementioned proposal.
BE IT, THEREFORE, RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES:
Section One. The following increase be made to the General Fund FY06-07 budget:
Community Outreach Program #101-1005-411-57-00 Meetings and Conferences $2,500
