On June 29, 2011 the Governor of California signed new Community Redevelopment Law, which dissolves California redevelopment agencies. The new law was litigated by the Community Redevelopment Association and the League of California Cities. On December 29, 2011, the California Supreme Court upheld the dissolution law. The Rancho Palos Verdes Redevelopment Agency is dissolved effective February 1, 2011. In connection with the new law, the Agency and City have taken the following actions.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANCHO PALOS VERDES MAKING AN ELECTION IN CONNECTION WITH SERVING AS A SUCCESSOR AGENCY UNDER PART 1.85 OF DIVISION 24 OF THE CALIFORNIA HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE AND TAKING CERTAIN ACTIONS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, adopted September 6, 2011.
