REMEDIATION OF LEAD-CONTAMINATED SOIL AT PVIC

Notice of a Public Meeting,  Wednesday, September 5, 7-9 p.m. at Point Vicente Interpretive Center (PVIC) for the First Five-Year Review of the 2002 Remediation of Lead-Contaminated Soil at PVIC, Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Remediation of lead-contaminated soil at PVIC was conducted in 2002 by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the lead agency. The remediation was conducted according to CERCLA, which requires reviews every five years to determine how effective the remediation remains in protecting human health.  USACE initiated the first Five–Year Review of the remediation at PVIC on August 13, 2007; it is scheduled to be completed by March 31, 2008. 

The Public Meeting on September 5 will explain what is involved in the Five–Year Review and will solicit public comment. In addition to publication in this newspaper, notices and information will be published also on the City of Rancho Palos Verdes website at: www.ranchopalosverdes.com/rpv.
