Request: A request to waive the underground utilities requirement.

Action Deadline: None

Recommendation: Approve the applicant’s request, thereby agreeing to waive the requirement to install all utility lines underground from an existing power pole.

2. HEIGHT VARIATION & GRADING PERMIT (CASE NO. ZON2009-00147): 27513 Longhill Drive / Chao (LM)
            To review the staff report click here

Request: A request to demolish an existing 2,100 square foot residence and construct a new 4,437 square foot 2-story residence. The proposed residence measures 24’-6” in height, as measured from the lowest finished grade adjacent to the foundation/slab to the highest ridgeline of the residence. The applicant is also requesting a Minor Grading Permit for 18 cubic yards of cut and 8 cubic yards of fill within the front yard.

Action Deadline: September 23, 2010

Recommendation: Continue the public hearing to the August 10, 2010 Planning Commission meting.

Request: A request to review and approve the “Draft” Fiscal Element and the “Draft” Land Use Element.

Action Deadline: None

Recommendation:
1) With regards to the Fiscal Element, Staff recommends that the Planning Commission:
         A) Review the attached Draft that incorporates text box comments submitted by Commissioner Emenhiser and Staff;
         B) Provide direction to Staff on whether to incorporate those comments or not,
         C) Consider the additional comments from Commissioner Knight and Staff attached to this report, comments provided by Staff  in regards to adding goals/policies regarding expenditures, and any late comments submitted by the Sub-committee or the Planning Commission, and
         D) Approve the proposed “Draft” Fiscal Element with any revisions as directed.

2) With regards to the Land Use Element, Staff recommends that the Planning Commission:

         A) Review the attached Draft that incorporates text box comments submitted by Staff;
         B) Provide direction to Staff on whether to incorporate those comments or not,
         C) Consider any late comments submitted by the Sub-committee or the Planning Commission, and
         D) Approve the proposed “Draft” Fiscal Element with any revisions as directed.

3) Receive and file the revised “Draft” Schedule.

NEW BUSINESS:

4. RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE MARYMOUNT COLLEGE INITIATIVE: City / (JR)

Request: A request by the Planning Commission to consider adoption of a Resolution opposing the Marymount College Initiative.

Recommendation: Decide whether the Planning Commission wishes to adopt a Resolution similar to the recently adopted City Council Resolution that opposes the Marymount College Initiative.
