1 . ANCILLARY RESIDENTIAL ZONE TEXT AMENDMENT (ZON2011-00345): Citywide / City (LM)
        To review the staff report click here

Request: A request to amend Chapter 17.14 (Commercial Limited), Chapter 17.16 (Commercial Neighborhood), Chapter 17.18 (Commercial Professional) and Chapter 17.20 (Commercial General) to allow residential uses within commercially zoned properties through the discretionary review and approval of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) and establish Ancillary Residential Use Development Standards.

Action Deadline: None

Recommendation: 1) Review and provide feedback on the City Council-initiated code amendment to the City’s Development Code to allow ancillary residential uses within certain commercial zones through the discretionary review and approval of a Conditional Use Permit and the establishment of development standards for said ancillary residential uses; and, 2) Continue the public hearing to the February 14, 2012 Planning Commission meeting to allow Staff to bring back a follow-up staff report and a Draft Resolution memorializing the Planning Commission’s recommendation to the City Council on the proposed code amendment.

2 . MISCELLANEOUS CLEAN-UP ZONE TEXT AMENDMENT REVISION: Citywide / City (LM)

Request: A request to correct Paragraph 4 of Section 17.02.030(D) (Roof Decks and Balconies) of the recently approved Miscellaneous “Clean-up” Code Amendment. The requested change would restore the height limitations for outdoor furnishings, accessories or plants located on roof decks to 8’-0” in height or the bottom of a roof eave, whichever is lower, and would restrict view impairment caused by outdoor furnishings, accessories or plants to the maximum height limits established for structures under Section 17.02.040.

Recommendation: Approve, via Minute Order, a correction to an erroneous amendment made to Section 17.02.030(D) (Roof Decks and Balconies) as part of the recent Minor Miscellaneous “Clean-up” Code Amendments to the City’s Development Code adopted by City Council via Ordinance No. 529.

Request: A review of the City’s development standards for outdoor lighting and the implementation of said requirements in the built environment.
