OVERVIEW |
The purpose of the Community Development Department is to ensure the orderly physical development of the community by upholding the goals and policies of the City’s General Plan. The Department does this by implementing the City’s Development Code and Building Codes, City’s Natural Communities Conservation Plan (NCCP), the City’s Conceptual Trail Plan (CTP), the City’s Forrestal Management Plan (FMP) and the City’s Affordable Housing requirements among other documents. The Department also Staffs the Planning Commission and City Hall cashier services.
The Department is comprised of the following four divisions that oversee the general functions described above (click on the links below for more information):

PLANNING & ZONING - Activities of this division involve administration of the City's land use regulations, including zoning, current and advance planning, trails, equestrian permits and environmental regulations; |

BUILDING AND SAFETY – Activities of this division involve issuance of building permits, plan check services, building inspection services, and geologic inspection and review services; |
| • |
CODE ENFORCEMENT – Activities of this division involve enforcement of the City’s Zoning Code and Building Codes; |

Monday-Thursday: 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Friday: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
Saturday & Sunday: Closed
The Department is located in a one story building which is part of the Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall complex. City Hall is located at 30940 Hawthorne Blvd. MAP
Planners, Building Inspectors and Code Enforcement officers are available during the times noted above except between noon and 1:30 pm.
