The Planning Commission of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes will conduct a continued public hearing on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 7:00 pm to receive public testimony, among other things, on the Final EIR for the proposed project. The public hearing will be held at the Hesse Park Community Building located at 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes.
The Project applications consist of Zoning Case No. ZON2003-00317 (Revision “E,” to Conditional Use Permit No. 9, a Grading Permit, a Variance Permit, and a Sign Permit). The Project involves renovations to the campus consisting of the demolition of 7 of the 13 existing buildings, the modernization and expansion of 4 existing buildings (14,916 square feet), the construction of 6 buildings including a new library, athletic building and two resident hall buildings (121,092 square feet), the relocation/reconfiguration of recreational facilities, parking areas (463 off-street parking spaces), and the entry drive, and various site improvements. The proposed two residence hall buildings will accommodate (128 rooms) 255 persons (250 students and 5 adult supervisors). Additionally, the applicant proposes to conduct 102,000 cubic yards of earth movement (51,000 cubic yards of cut and 51,000 cubic yards of fill) that will be balanced on-site. The proposed Project would occur entirely within the boundaries of the existing 24.57-acre campus. No change to the College’s existing academic operation or student enrollment limit is proposed under the current development application.
The October 28, 2008 public hearing will be the first of a number of public hearings on the project, including the FEIR. If you have any comments or concerns about the proposed project that you would like to be considered by the Planning Commission, please communicate those thoughts in writing to the Director of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement. All interested parties are invited to submit comments and attend and give testimony at the public hearings.
