Appeal of City Staff’s Determination of the Marymount / FLS Summer Study Program

On February 29, 2008, City Staff determined that the FLS International Study Program offered at Marymount College is a program operated by a separate enterprise and is therefore in violation of Condition No. 9 of Conditional Use Permit No. 9 Revision “C” which states that “any commercial use of the campus, including sub-leasing, shall require an amendment to this Conditional Use Permit.”   City Staff notified the College that this program must be discontinued or an amendment to the existing Conditional Use Permit must be processed by the City.  Click here to view City Staff’s determination.

The College’s appeal was heard by the Planning Commission on April 22, 2008 at Hesse Park Community Building located at 29301 Hawthorne Blvd at 7pm.  Click here to view the Planning Commission Public Notice on the appeal. 

Click here to view the April 22, 2008 Planning Commission Staff Report on the FLS International appeal.   Public comments on the appeal should be submitted to City Staff by April 15, 2008 to be included in the Staff Report.  Correspondence received after April 15, 2008 will be provided to the Planning Commission as late correspondence on the night of the hearing. 

On April 22, 2008, the Planning Commission determined that the Marymount / FLS Summer Study Program is being conducted in compliance with Condition No. 9 of Conditional Use Permit No. 9 Revision ‘C’.  The Planning Commission Adopted the Resolution at its May 13, 2008 meeting.
