Opus Tomorrow The Commissioners Circle Opus Tomorrow is a program of the South Bay Chamber Music Society to commission new works for selected performing ensembles. For its first project, Opus Tomorrow has commissioned a work by Pierre Jalbert for performance by the Janaki String Trio in September 2008. Should this commission prove a success, Opus Tomorrow will proceed to establish a regular commissioning program. The success of Opus Tomorrow depends largely on its financial underpinnings. Although there will be a substantial fund-raising effort for this program, Opus Tomorrow is establishing a group of program guarantors, called the Commissioners Circle. Members of the Commissioners Circle agree to an initial $200 contribution to SBCMS, earmarked for Opus Tomorrow, and pledge to cover up to $300 in additional commission costs in the event that fund-raising efforts among the co-commissioning general public fail to realize enough to cover the full cost of the initial commission. Contributions are tax-deductible. Members of the Commissioners Circle will be given special recognition at the time of the commissioned work's premiere, and may receive benefits in addition to those given to co-commissioners. These benefits are yet to be determined, but could include a special pre- or post-concert reception with artists and composer, special recognition in the work's title-page dedication, and/or a special premiere concert recording. If you wish to become a member of the Commissioners Circle, please indicate here by what name you would like to be acknowledged by Opus Tomorrow: Name_______________________________________________ Address______________________________________________ City/State/Zip_________________________________________ E-mail Address_______________________ Phone____________ Please make your check for $200 payable to South Bay Chamber Music Society, specifying Opus Tomorrow, and send it with this agreement to: South Bay Chamber Music Society For more information, contact Jess Morton at (310) 832-5601 To read about Opus Tomorrow, just click here.
