THE ARTISTS

With his vast musical gifts, violinist Tim Fain is a mesmerizing presence on the music scene. The "charismatic young violinist with a matinee idol profile, strong musical instincts, and first rate chops" (Boston Globe) was featured as the sound of Richard Gere's violin in Bee Season. Most recently, Tim is the violinist, both onscreen and on the soundtrack, in the award-winning film Black Swan, in theaters now.

An Avery Fisher Career Grant (2007) recipient and a winner of the coveted Young Concert Artists International Award (1999), Tim Fain was featured as one of Symphony magazine's "Up-and-Coming Young Musicians of 2006," and a Strad Magazine 2007 "Pick of Up-and-Coming-Musicians."

Tim Fain has been soloist with the Baltimore, Mexico City, Oxford (UK) Symphonies, with Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival, and the Philip Glass Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, among others. He has performed on prestigious stages such as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Alice Tully and Carnegie's Weill halls in NY, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and in 2009 debuted in Los Angeles at Walt Disney Concert Hall as a soloist with the iPalpiti orchestra, about which the Los Angeles Times wrote, "Tim Fain ... proved to be a real comer, displaying a gorgeously sweet tone, thrusting but never over-the-top attacks and a youthful, even hip physical presence."

A native of Santa Monica, Tim Fain studied in Los Angeles with Laura Schmieder at Colburn School and Eduard Schmieder. He is a graduate of the Curtis Institute and The Juilliard School, where he studied respectively with Victor Danchenko and Robert Mann.
