Trinity Lutheran Church hosts three series: its main concert series on this page, its noontime "Bach's Lunch Recitals" on first Fridays from September through June, and "The Previews," which present the Beverly Hills Public Library "Sundays At Two" recitals on third Saturdays from August through May. Violinist Mark Menzies -- New Zealand-born Viola and Violin Professor at the California Institute of the Arts, where he also teaches chamber music

Cellist Paula Fehrenbach -- a member of the Santa Barbara Symphony and the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra

Pianist Gayle Blankenburg -- a member of the faculties of Pomona College, Scripps College, and the Claremont Graduate University

The concert will feature organ solos, an organ duet, and selections for organ & piano and organ & harpsichord.

For the past twenty-one years, Karla Devine has been Director of Music, Organist, and Director of Children's Choirs at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manhattan Beach. Karla is a soprano with Camerata Singers of Long Beach. She did her graduate work in Basel, Switzerland, and at the University of Minnesota. Karla is the Artistic Director of the Trinity Lutheran Church Concert Series.

Steve Olsen studied with Margaret Rowell in Berkeley, George Neikrug at Boston University, and Gabor Rejto at USC. He was principal cellist of the California Youth Symphony, participating in its Australian and European tours, and also performed with the American Youth Symphony, the symphony orchestras of UCLA and UC Berkeley, and the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra. Steve's professional career is Vice Chancellor of Finance for UCLA.

The Blue Rose Trio won the Strings Prize of the 2005 Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition. Its members are current and recent graduate students at the USC Thornton School of Music. Last summer, they toured Israel, China, Brazil, France, Alaska, and California.

The Carthage Choir is one of the finest and oldest touring-college choirs in the nation. The select fifty voice ensemble from Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin, has presented programs of a cappella choral music at St. Anne's Lutheran Church, London; Bath Abbey; Coventry Cathedral; Christ Church Oxford; Gloucester Cathedral; Kreuzkirche, Dresden; Thomaskirche, Leipzig; Georgenkirche, Eisenach; Johanneskirche, Wolfenbuettel; St. Stanislaw, Zdrochec, Poland; St. Bartholomew, Jelowa, Poland; and the Berliner Dom.

Concert will feature the Kyrie and Gloria of Mozart's Grand Mass in C Major, K427, Sarah Hopkin's Past Life Melodies, anthems and motets by Tye, Sweelinck, Jennings, Whitacre, Manuel, Hopkins, and Sandström, and arrangements of folksongs and spirituals by Burkhardt, Shaw-Parker, and Hogan.

Minister of Music, organist, choirmaster, and resident composer at Central Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, Mark Sedio also serves on the music staff at Luther Seminary in Saint Paul. He has toured the United States and Europe as recitalist and presenter of hymn festivals, and his hymns and psalm settings have been included in several denominational hymnals.

California State University Long Beach's premier vocal ensemble, CSULB Chamber Choir is composed of the top 36 singers at the University selected by audition. The ensemble tours worldwide, offering performances of varied repertoire embracing all styles of choral composition. It performed at the World Symposium of Choral Music in the Netherlands in 1999 and in Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, April 24, 2007.

Taking its enigmatic name from the 2nd movement of the Ravel Trio, internationally acclaimed pianist and Gold Medal Winner of the International Prokofiev Competition Robert Edward Thies, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Assistant Concertmaster Tereza Stanislav, and Long Beach Symphony Orchestra Principal Cellist Cécilia Tsan have formed one of the newest ensembles on the Southland's music scene. These three good friends will be sharing their passion for chamber music with the audience.
