AAUW/PVP presents TechTime, a science club for Girl Scouts, to the Peninsula's two Girl Scout Councils. The clubs meet one evening per month, January through May, at local elementary schools. At a TechTime meeting, an accomplished woman engineer or scientist presents a hands-on program to the enthusiastic Scouts.

Based upon a model from the Los Altos-Mountain View Branch, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Branch launched this science club for 4th and 5th graders at Mira Catalina Elementary School as a test site during Winter 1997. Presenters as well as students were so delighted with TechTime that the branch continued and expanded the club in 1998, alternating between the two Scout councils for following years until 2001, when the branch started offering TechTime to the two councils every year.

Tech Trek
AAUW-CA inaugurated Tech Trek, a science, math, and computer camp for 7th grade girls, on the campus of Stanford University in June 1998. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Branch was delighted to send a charter camper to Tech Trek--Nina Agrawal, a student at Miraleste Intermediate School.

Since the summer of 1999, PVP Branch's campers have attended Tech Trek on the campus of U.C. San Diego.

Without fail, the campers return with renewed self-confidence and enthusiasm about math, science, and computers.
