From 2001 to 2013 in Manhattan Beach, Bach's Lunch recitals have become Classical Crossroads' First Fridays at First! ~ fff recitals in Torrance CA.

Bach's Lunch recitals were half hour without intermissions. Lunch, with sandwiches made from special-order bakery bread and farmers-market-fresh produce, were available afterwards to enjoy with the artists or take back to the office in a box.

Kent Eggerts
KENT EGGERT organ

Kent Eggert has been organist at First Lutheran Church in Torrance since 1993. Prior to moving to California, he served several congregations in the Twin Cities metro area. Kent studied with Charles Parsons at Central Lutheran in Minneapolis and Pamela Carlson of Mount Calvary Lutheran in Eagan.

Lisa Kozenko is Principal Oboist of the New York City Opera National Company. As a member of the Manhattan Wind Quintet, Lisa has won prizes at the Coleman, Fischoff, Monterey, Yellow Springs, and Chamber Music Chicago competitions, and was a finalist in the 1994 Naumburg Chamber Music Competition. Her concerto appearances include the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, the New Philharmonia of Portugal, and the National Orchestra of New York.Lisa was recently appointed to a position at Central Michigan University.

A native of San Diego, pianist Dana Burnett has been a faculty member of Vanderbilt University, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She was a 1st-Prize winner of San Diego's Musical Merit Foundation.

PHOEBE JEVTOVIC ALEXANDER soprano

Phoebe Jevtovic Alexander performs chamber music and early opera in the United States, the Netherlands, and Germany. She has appeared with the Waverly Consort, American Bach Soloists, Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, North Holland Opera, Musica Angelica, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. She completed her Master of Arts degree in Early Music Performance at USC and has edited a volume of solo songs by Tarquinio Merula that is due to be published by A&R Editions.

Bruce Burchmore is finishing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Early Music Performance at USC, specializing in the performance and study of early plucked and bowed stringed instruments.

Both Phoebe and Bruce are founding members of the early music ensemble La Monica.

Gideon Rubin
GIDEON RUBIN piano

Pianist GIDEON RUBIN attended the Mannes School of Music, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Harvard, and then earned his Master of Music from Boston University. He is presently working toward a doctorate in piano performance at USC. As orchestral soloist, Gideon has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Boston's Symphony Hall, the Boston Classical Orchestra, the Mannes Orchestra, made a European tour with the New World Symphony under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas, and a tour of Israel with the New England Conservatory Youth Orchestra.

LISA SUTTON violin, FRANÇOISE RÉGNAT piano, ROWENA HAMMILL cello

Pianist Françoise Régnat, a graduate of both the Paris Conservatoire and Indiana University and winner of the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York City, is Professor of Music at California State University, Northridge. Canadian-born violinist Lisa Sutton, an alumna of the Yale School of Music, performs with both the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Opera. Australian cellist Rowena Hammill also performs with the Los Angeles Opera.

The Primavera Trio has recorded works by Frank Bridge, Frank Martin, and Frank Campo for Centaur Records.

Dr. JAMES HURD organ

Professor of Music at El Camino College, James Hurd is organist at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Redondo Beach. He received the Bachelor of Music degree, graduating with Departmental Honors from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, and a Master of Music degree from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, Illinois. He earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Southern California, studying organ with Dr. Irene Robertson.

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra violinist Connie Kupka and her husband David Speltz are both active in the motion picture studios. Their sons Brook and Brendan appeared in last season's Young Artists Peninsula Music Festival.
